Welcome to Ashbourne...
Ashbourne is one of Derbyshire's finest old market towns, combining a medieval street pattern and historic buildings with a wealth of high quality shops. Lying in a lovely green valley on the southern edge of the Peak District, the town attracts many visitors who come to enjoy a scene which has changed little in appearance since the 18th century. The cobbled market place, hidden alleys and yards are a delight to explore, and the wide and elegant Church Street is considered to be the finest street of Georgian buildings in Derbyshire.
Enjoyable Shopping...
Ashbourne is renowned for its independant ladies boutiques, antique shops, bistros and speciality food shops. Clustered around the historic market place and along the main streets of the town they offer a delightful shopping experience. The market still takes place every Thursday and Saturday throughout the year, continuing a long tradition dating back to 1257 when the town was granted a charter to allow stalls in the market place.
Ashbourne is a Fairtrade Town which means that Fair Trade products are widely available in the town's shops, cafes and restaurants.
