Our first drop-in session was held at Ashbourne Leisure Centre on 23 November to obtain feedback on the suggested ideas for improving the Recreation Ground and to consider new ideas from the groups and the public and was successfully attended by over 60 people.

There was a great deal of discussion during the day and many new and innovative ideas were produced. In total 192 views were given and this has now been sifted to provide a base for further discussion that takes into account the themes emerging and the popularity of that idea.

There are 14 themes which have been identified which correspond closely with the original themed ideas. However, in many of these themes there are new and exciting ideas.

Our next meeting is to be held on Wednesday 25 January 2012 at the Ashbourne Leisure Centre at 4pm for all interested in joining as Friends of the Park and to make the ideas come into reality.

We have been given permission to take over an empty retail outlet in the middle of Ashbourne, for one day only. In addition to my own fine art prints, the shop will be filled with an array of the finest local craft and design work.

Featured craft and design groups include “Little Walton Bank”, “Thoroughly Modern Makers”, “The Little Pottery Company” and many others, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase a range of unique handmade gifts as potential stocking fillers, including fine art prints, vintage clothing, jewellery, bags, cards, ceramics, brooches and other accessories.

The “Pop-Up Shop” will be at 3 Church St (formerly “Sweets and Treats”) in the middle of Ashbourne, on Saturday 26^th November, open from 10.00 – 5.00pm. Ten per cent of all the proceeds from the day will be donated to a charity chosen by the shop owner.
